You would look for this car in vain in the Czech price list and Peugeot configurator. At the same time, you can buy it from us, you just have to tell us about it.
It’s been a few weeks since the Czech representative office of Peugeot launched the modernized 2008 and 508 models on the market. The cars arrive with a fresh design and a modified range of power units, while for the 508 model you have only one option if you are interested in a diesel unit (1.5 BlueHDi EAT8/96 kW ) and the electric e-2008 increased to 115 kW.
We already know the Czech prices of both modernized models and we are also preparing classic editorial tests, however, what you normally find in the price list of the 508 model is not all that Peugeot can offer on the Czech market. In addition to the standard, now mostly electrified power units, the palette again includes a sharp PSE (Peugeot Sport Engineered) version, which pays for such an under-counter. You will not find it in the Czech price list and it is only available on request.

It is essentially a spiritual successor to the Peugeot 405 T16 from 1993, which was powered by a two-liter four-cylinder with 196 horsepower, or 220 horsepower when using overboost. The prized derivative had permanent all-wheel drive, accelerated to 100 km/h in 7 seconds and reached a top speed of 235 km/h. Today, Peugeot imagines the “supersedan” completely differently, although the basic attributes, namely high performance and 4×4 drive, remain.
The 508 PSE has a total of three engines. The internal combustion engines are represented by a gasoline four-cylinder one-six with an output of 147 kW, supplemented by an 81 kW electric motor connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Another electric motor with 83 kW is in charge of driving the wheels of the rear axle. It is a plug-in hybrid with a 12.4kWh battery, on which the car should be able to travel up to 52 km without local emissions. Acceleration from zero to 100 takes 5.2 seconds, the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h. The combined output is 265 kW (360 hp), which has not changed with the facelift.

In addition to the specific drive, the Peugeot 508 PSE has optimized damping (Comfort, Hybrid, Sport modes), 4WD mode, lower ground clearance, wider wheel track by 24 mm at the front and 12 mm at the back, front brakes with 380 mm discs and 4-piston calipers or unique 20-inch Exxar wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. You won’t miss the new aerodynamic elements of the body, and the visual style is also reflected in the interior.
The 508 PSE model was first shown by the Czech representation of Peugeot to domestic journalists at the beginning of last year on the occasion of the first drives with the new generation compact 308. At that time, we also found out the price of over 1.7 million crowns, which is quite a lot, but given the position of the car, it is understandable. Even the PSE after the facelift does not have an official price list, but we know the amounts – prepare 1,750,000 CZK for the fastback and 1,790,000 CZK for the SW (station wagon).

We found out the list of basic equipment from the description of the particular test car and it includes the best that the 508 has to offer. There was only one extra charge for the station wagon, namely the Opening Sunroof package for CZK 37,000. You don’t even have to pay extra for body paint.
As part of the launch of the modernized Peugeot 508 on the Czech market, we were interested in the specifics of ordering and delivering the PSE version. “The delivery date of the car is individual, just like the order itself. It could take between three and six months, depending on how we manage to get the production quota,” stated for Autorevue.cz Radka Matthey, press spokesperson of the Czech Peugeot.
“Normally, when a car is officially on offer, we receive production quotas automatically for each month. PSE is not in the offer, so we have to ask for quotas and it is not clear when we will get them. Sometimes right away, sometimes another month, sometimes it can take longer,” explained Radka Matthey.
