Last week, a number of Apple Watch owners noticed that their after installing the latest version of watchOS 10.1 it drains the battery much faster than usual. Apple acknowledged the problem and promised to fix it in an upcoming update.
According to Reddit, Apple’s support community, X, and other sources, the problem applies to multiple models including older ones (like the Watch SE and Watch Series 5) to brand new versions like the Apple Watch Ultra 2. The problem seems to be quite seriouswith one user noting that watchOS 10.1 “kills the Apple Watch battery,” draining it from 100 to 50 percent in less than 60 minutes.
It seems that Apple this problem of increased power consumption partially solved by iOS 17.1 updatebut it only works when a watch running watchOS 10.1 is paired with an iPhone running iOS 17. Even then, though, it’s not a problem does not solve completely.
Apple said in a statement that the issue will be fixed in an upcoming watchOS update soon, without giving a more specific date, the specific models affected and the reason for the problem. Apple is reportedly set to release iOS 17.1.1 for the iPhone and will hopefully also release watchOS 10.1.1 with the patch.
