When you hear the word “SUV-coupe”, most people think of the founder of the BMW X6 genre, a large and aggressive-looking car that attracts a specific type of customer. But with its GLE, Mercedes shows that the same theme can be approached in a much more elegant and less violent way.

It is often bought by people who desire the graceful lines of a sedan, but who need a slightly higher position above the asphalt (for overview and entry), but at the same time they do not want a bulky box with a huge trunk of a typical SUV, whose spaciousness and practicality they cannot use. After all, not everyone enjoys riding a bike or moving refrigerators…

Not everyone buys an SUV because of the huge trunk, although the GLE coupe is not far behind with its 690 liters.

The GLE is such a pleasant compromise, such an “E on stilts” – because it offers a similarly spacious interior in which you don’t feel like speleologists in a huge cave, a beautifully crafted cabin that pampers you with its luxury and fascinating technologies, and all the driving comfort you could want .

The Mercedes cabin exudes comfort, and the GLE is one of the best.

You are floating on an amazingly flexible air chassis and you are propelled forward by a powerful three-liter six-cylinder engine, which provides its power in a completely effortless way through a smoothed, smooth-shifting automatic (and with the help of a 48V mild-hybrid system helping with 20 hp and 200 Nm). Driving does not require any special skills either – and this is also because the package of sophisticated driving assistants makes it very effective for you. Crossing continents has never been easier and more comfortable…

The powerful power of the six-cylinder engine and the rocking comfort of the air suspension is a hard-to-beat combination for carefree travel. Especially when a full tank gives you a range of around a thousand kilometers.

So, if you liked the GLE and wanted it, you chose the right time – because the modernized model has just arrived at the dealers. You can easily recognize it by the new mask with stars instead of dots, the graphics of the lights also correspond to the current model range, and the bumpers have also been slightly modified, but all in all, these are very decent changes.

The GLE is a really big and heavy car, so don’t seriously expect sports from it. But you won’t miss it.

In the same way, no radical modifications have taken place in the cabin, but connoisseurs will definitely notice the new four-spoke steering wheel and the latest generation of MBUX infotainment, offering a wider range of services, more sophisticated online functionality and mobile connectivity – all of which can be controlled not only by touch, but also by the touchpad on the central tunnel (GLE is one of the few Mercedes that still has it). So you have a choice, and that’s good.

And this applies to the entire “E” range of Mercedes: You can go for a classic sedan or station wagon, or choose the GLE SUV or its coupe variant. However, you always get unprecedented comfort, as befits and belongs to a brand with a three-pointed star. If you don’t need to prove anything to anyone and want to enjoy the level of comfort you deserve for your hard-earned money, then you’ve come to the right place.

The basic Mercedes-Benz GLE coupe is equipped with a four-cylinder turbodiesel (GLE 300d with 269 hp) and costs CZK 2,323,200. For the six-cylinder GLE 450d offering 367 hp, you need to save about 200,000, because it costs CZK 2,534,950. The offer also includes petrol (GLE 450) and plug-in hybrid versions (petrol GLE 400e and diesel GLE 350de), semi-fat (GLE 53) and full-fat (GLE 63) AMG versions, so here too there is a very wide choice .
