Instagram is expanding its Close Friends feature from Stories and Notes to feed posts and Reels. You will be able to share posts in Reels and feed with less (and maybe also more trustworthy) the audience instead of everyone following you.
The Instagram team says that users using the Close Friends feature will get a way to connect with the people they care about without pressure. By expanding the Close Friends option to Reels and Feed posts, the developers hope to ensure users a much greater degree of authenticityas it will be possible decide who sees the content.
Sharing a Reels post or feed only with close friends is relatively simple. Press while creating it Audience buttonselect Close Friends option and then tap on the Share option. Post or Reels gets green label with starso those in your Close Friends list who see it will know they belong to that group.
It is worth noting that the list of Close friends will form the same group of people across all Instagram features. However, Instagram is looking for more ways to share anything with a smaller audience. Last month, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri revealed that his team was experimenting with a way to allow users to share Stories with different subsets of followers. By comparison, Facebook users have long been able to set up many different lists of friends and choose with whom to share a post.
