The Škoda Superb is basically nothing to be ashamed of. It looks presentable and nothing essential is missing on board. On the contrary, it offers more than enough.
Fortunately, the days when we laughed at the Fabia Junior with tin wheels and plastic bumpers in stark black are definitely over. The new Škoda Superb Kombi starts at 1,035,000 CZK, so don’t expect any bare-bones and unpainted parts.
In fact, even the most basic version has representative charisma. The second reason is the fact that it is currently only available in the Selection trim, and of course it can’t cut itself any shame. Regarding the engine, the popular two-liter diesel with 110 kW and DSG remains the only choice.
The Czech configurator has not yet been launched, but it is already snarling at our western neighbors. The cheapest Superb Kombi rides on 17-inch wheels, is decorated with dark chrome grille frames and is only available in white at no extra cost. LED headlights with automatic switching and rear fog lights are a matter of course.
The Loft’s fabric interior is carried in an unobtrusive gray spirit, but comfort is not skimped on. The seats have electric backrest adjustment including lumbar support. The massage function and heating were also thought of. The air conditioning is three-zone. The valuable appearance of the interior is enhanced by a leather steering wheel, a 10-inch instrument panel and an equally large infotainment system. It has bluetooth, digital radio reception and wireless connectivity with a phone that you place on a 15W induction charger.
Passengers in the back will appreciate the adjustable armrest with cup holders, as well as pockets for a mobile phone. In the trunk with a generous volume of 690 liters, cargo elements and hooks will facilitate the transport of cargo.
What, on the other hand, is not visible at first glance is the long list of helpers and assistants. The basic Škoda Superb has traffic sign recognition, an anti-collision assistant ready for intersections, cruise control with speed limiter, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and much more.
