TikTok has introduced new account options – now offering tools aimed at budding musicians. Specifically, these are tools that allow this group of users edit your profiles to increase your discoverability. However, this new set of tools is not just for budding artists, but can also be used by experienced artists established music iconswho can add an artist tag to their profiles, giving their music its own tab alongside videos, likes and retweets.

According to TikTok, you need to upload to the app in order to get an artist tag at least four songs. Artists can also pin one of their tracks to appear first on the music tab. If a musician will post new content, the app will mark tracks as new up to 14 days before and up to 30 days after their release. All new songs will be automatically added to the music tab of the profile.

TikTok says more than 70,000 artists are already using the new tools. The app has proven to be a breeding ground for viral content for both new artists and established music creators, thanks to the speed at which it posts trends in dance and lifestyle videos. TikTok’s influence on the music industry is so massive that even streaming companies like Spotify are experimenting with music channels.
