The fourth modern generation “marmot” sticks to the proven design, added safety and has a new engine.
Overall, it is the sixth generation, but in the current millennium, the new version has serial number four – in all, over nine million units have been sold in 169 countries in the last 19 years, which is a respectable figure. Suzuki himself admits that his novelty retains the typical features of its predecessors, so in terms of design it is not a revolution, but a subtle evolution.
At the front, we have a glossy black radiator grille and L-shaped daytime running lights. These follow the longitudinal molding around the entire body. There is also a “floating” roof above the dark pillars. At the back, look forward to the 3D graphics of the lights and the bumper, extending into the sides of the car. In terms of colors, nine single-tone and four two-tone designs will be available, including new Blue Pearl Metallic and Cool Yellow Metallic paint finishes.
The interior tries to make it easier for the driver to operate important functions, the controls are therefore slightly turned towards him. Infotainment is handled through a nine-inch screen with HD resolution, connection to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is possible via USB cable or WiFi. In terms of safety, there is a system for maintaining the lane with adjustment of the direction before obstacles, a camera monitoring the driver’s condition and warning of fatigue or the emergency braking system Dual Sensor Brake Support II.
The engine is powered by a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine, complemented by a 12V mild-hybrid system. We don’t know its parameters yet, but Suzuki promises low consumption, higher torque and better response at lower revs. Traditionally, the 4×4 version appears in the offer, which connects the rear wheels at low traction through a viscous clutch. The new generation of Swift will arrive on the Czech market in the second quarter of 2024.
