There is probably no better-known Czech car that has the nickname of an almost immortal machine. Of course, this is the first Octavia with a 1.9 TDI engine with a power of 66 kW, which uses the work of a simple rotary pump and an ordinary turbocharger without complications.
If we ignore the very fact that the first generation Octavia is something that the Czech engineers wiped the eyes of even the bosses sitting in Wolfsburg, there is that immortal aura around this car. The reason is simple, certain pieces whose odometers hit the 1,000,000 km mark were actually found and became famous in the media.
On the other hand, these were well-serviced cars where a number of key components had been replaced several times and the total cost of repairs and maintenance reached the de facto purchase price of a new car.
However, this car is still popular in our region, especially in the estate version. But, what would the model look like if it were a convertible? Such a car was modeled for you by our in-house designer Rosťa Prokop.
Take a look at the front of the car, which already has clear headlights. The bumpers are ordinary, the moldings are black, which indicates that it is not a high level of equipment.
The side line was adapted to the needs of the cabrio, with the first pair of doors lengthened and the second removed. The two-tone discs of a modern shape from the newer generation Octavia are then a light decoration.
The rear part is newly smoothed with a completely unique trunk lid, next to which the traditional halogen rear lamps have their place. The bumper is again without decorations and hides the typical downward sloping dual exhaust tip. In short, it is a TDI in every inch.
Also note the color palette, which includes original factory paint in the form of silver, black and light green metallic. Apart from the mentioned modifications, it is a serial car as you know it well and you see it a lot on our roads.
The Škoda Octavia Cabriolet was never produced as a production model and was mostly just a virtual work of graphic artists, designers and other enthusiasts. And it’s the same in our case, which only shows what this Czech idol might look like without the top.
