The Czech professional public has spoken. In the final five there are two premium cars, a giant electric SUV, a tenacious Subaru and an electric car with retro shapes.
The Car of the Year 2024 poll was fully launched in the Czech Republic at the end of November. From the twenty-one finalists, among which you would also find the off-road Ford Bronco or the luxury Porsche Cayenne, the expert jury has now selected five finalists. The jury was unusually unanimous in its selection, and the five finalists received a full 65 votes out of a possible 100.
The finalists of the Car of the Year 2024 poll are BMW 5 Series, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Kia EV9, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Subaru Crosstrek. Shortly after the new year, the judges will meet again to select a winner from the five finalists in the second round of test drives. It will be ceremonially announced in the Prague Congress Center on Tuesday, February 6.
The winning car will replace the Honda Civic e:HEV on the imaginary throne. Of the final five, there are two models with electric drive. BMW and Mercedes-Benz are available with many internal combustion engines, including plug-in hybrids, and the Subaru Crosstrek has a four-cylinder two-liter boxer peppered with mild-hybrid technology.
