Toyota’s current design direction produces very handsome cars with a sporty touch. But it’s not just about the appearance, they have a nice sharpened under the hood as well.
If you want a family SUV, you’re a Toyota fan, but you don’t need an off-roader like the Land Cruiser, you’re left with either the RAV4 or the Highlander. However, there is also the Crown Signia SUV in the US and Japan, which is very interesting because it is a plug-in hybrid that you might enjoy.
The first attraction is the excellent design. Rather than a regular SUV, it looks like a product of an exotic brand. With that red, it’s not hard to think of Ferrari Purosangue. Of course, this is unaffordable for most, either because of the price or the long waiting time, but the Crown Signia SUV PHEV is expected to be around 1,170,000 CZK and you will definitely get it sooner. Unfortunately, it’s only a matter of the Japanese market for now.
That’s a shame because otherwise it looks promising. The basis of the plug-in hybrid system is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that, together with an electric motor, sends 302 horsepower to all wheels. It is tamed by powerful brakes with six-piston calipers that shine through the 21-inch wheels. To increase rigidity, the plug-in hybrid has stiffeners in the floor.
There is also a lithium-ion battery for a 90-kilometer range in electric mode. It takes 38 minutes to charge it to 80%. Thanks to the high efficiency of the system and the 55-liter gas tank, the Crown Signia SUV PHEV has a range of around 1,200 kilometers. A welcome feature is the possibility of 1500W powering external devices.
