We have known what the new Subaru Impreza will be like for a long time, but the motorization remained a question. In the end, she didn’t surprise, but she didn’t excite either.

The sixth generation of the popular Impreza premiered last year in North America, but it did not arrive in Europe, specifically the Czech market, until the end of December 2023. Here, it will be sold with a single engine. It is an electrified two-liter boxer tuned to a power of 100 kW (136 hp) with a torque of 182 Nm. It is combined with a CVT transmission and all-wheel drive.

Volkswagen will make new cars cheaper across the board. The changes will also affect the equipment, but an attractive solution is planned

On the technical side, the new model year has improved engine cooling and modified intake, which added 10% to the performance. Electrification of the power unit helps it especially during acceleration, when it gives the car dynamics and sailing with the aim of reducing fuel consumption. The 4×4 drive system has been electronically modified for faster and more precise interventions on unpaved surfaces and in corners. The steering has more natural resistance due to the architecture where the steering rod is not connected to the electric power steering motor. The low center of gravity with a minimum ground clearance of 135 mm contributes to the right feeling behind the wheel. In the US, the Impreza is powered by a 182-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder, but we’re out of luck here.

From a safety point of view, the modernized EyeSight system with seven new and three improved functions will please. New additions include, for example, autonomous emergency steering intervention, anti-collision assistant, lane keeping and intelligent speed limiter with traffic sign monitoring. The overall driver support is of exceptional quality and includes many other features.

Choosing the right configuration will be easy. Subaru Impreza begins with Active equipment at a price of CZK 845,000. For this money you get a set of LED headlights including fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels and a roof spoiler. Inside, you can look forward to heated front seats with cloth upholstery and electric adjustment, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and dual air conditioning with voice control. The 11.6-inch multimedia device has wireless smartphone mirroring, a parking camera and an audio system with six speakers.

The new Fiat 600 will leave others scratching their heads. It doesn't cost much and basically doesn't look like a refrigerator

Higher Executive equipment for 950,000 CZK adds a power sunroof, leather steering wheel and automatic selector knob, heated steering wheel, leather seat upholstery, front seats with lumbar support, sun visors with mirrors and lighting (otherwise they are without lighting), navigation, automatic high beams and an automatically adjustable rearview mirror.

The basic paints are non-metallic red and blue, for others an additional 12,000 CZK is charged. There are no other surcharges. The five-year warranty limited to 200,000 km with assistance for five years is also nice.

The Subaru Impreza is essentially a less off-road-focused sibling the new Subaru Crosstrek. By the way, it made it to the final five of the Car of the Year 2024 survey in the Czech Republic. Crosstrek in the Czech Republic starts at a price of CZK 880,000 (Active), for the more equipped Comfort equipment you pay CZK 955,000 and the top Executive equipment costs CZK 1,020,000. As you can see, the price differences between the two models are not very big.

Subaru Impreza

There are plenty of more dynamic, more comfortable, more practical and definitely nicer cars in the lower middle class. However, fans swear by the Impreza for its longitudinally mounted “boxer” engine, symmetrical all-wheel drive and famous sovereignty on Czech roads.
