Everything doesn’t always work out. Car companies solve their missteps with recalls. Which cars have the most for last year.
Every now and then something goes wrong and the automaker has to arrange a recall to get things right. The website svolávačky.cz keeps track of these missteps and subsequent corrections by car manufacturers and is now sharing the statistics with us.
For example, the ranking of cars that had five or more recalls in 2023 is interesting. The overview shows that 3 or more recalls are not unusual, for example several BMWs – series 3, X3, X5 and X6. Mercedes-Benz also had three recalls for the CLS, GLE, GLS or E and S-class models. The five recalls concern the BMW 2 Series, Citroën Berlingo, DS3, Opel Astra and Peugeot Partner.
The top ranks are occupied by the Peugeot 208 and DS 7 Crossback, which had nine recalls for 2023. The Stellantis group and its brands clearly lead the list of these recalls. If we take a closer look at the models, the 208 has the following recall actions for last year and it is not about banalities – the possibility of untightened steering rod connecting nuts or the possibility of unintentional acceleration by about 30 km/h above the set speed in ECO mode with adaptive cruise control.
And those were just the events for February. It’s worth noting that some of the actions apply to all model years, such as the non-compliant emissions standards for 208s built from 16 April 2019 until 15 February 2023. Another action called for possible non-compliant tire rubber only affected 208 models from the 28 .February to March 14. For example, the DS 7 Crossback had a miscalibration of the four-wheel drive, and one such curiosity may be a possible software bug that can cause the engine to stall when operating at a higher altitude in cold temperatures.
