The economical small hatchback is already rolling off the production lines. You will see it on Czech roads in a month.
Some time ago, we informed you about the rejuvenation of the Mazda 2 Hybrid model, which is sold at the same time as the Mazda 2. The point is that the hybrid is basically the twin of the Toyota Yaris. The rejuvenated variant brought several changes, so that cars from Toyota and Mazda are no longer like eggs. Mazda now has a different front grille and bumper. The rear was also slightly modified, and what cannot be seen is the modified range of equipment.
Now the brand informs that the new version has already started production in Onnaing, France, on January 15. Sales will then begin throughout Europe in February. We remind you that the car has a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine under the hood, which has an output of 68 kW (92 hp) and is assisted by an electric motor with an output of 59 kW. Thanks to this, the car achieves a combined output of 85 kW (115 hp). Mazda does not mention the more powerful 130-horsepower hybrid that the facelifted Toyota Yaris has in the press release.
For Toyota, this arrangement promises a combined consumption of only 3.8 to 4.3 l/100 km. The car can run on electricity for short periods and uses an e-CVT automatic transmission. Thanks to the tap from the electric motor and relatively decent performance, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under ten seconds and go up to 175 km/h.
The Japanese car company was founded in 1920 by Jujiro Matsuda. The title sometimes refers to his name, sometimes to the Persian god Ahura Mazda.
In 1979, he joined Mazda Ford, which gradually increased and sold its share. But today he already owns a small part of the company.
