The compact SUV Ford Kuga is extremely successful on the Czech market. Even last year, it retained the title of the brand’s best-selling model in our country (1,214 units, just four more than the smaller crossover Puma) and at the same time became the most popular plug-in hybrid car in Europe for the third time in a row.

The electrified drives are excellent even after the facelift. Ford especially highlights the improved plug-in hybrid with 243 horsepower and a hundred in 7.3 seconds, which is two seconds less than before. The battery with a capacity of 14.4 kWh should be enough for up to 69 kilometers of purely electric driving.

The heart of the plug-in hybrid and hybrid version is a 2.5-liter gasoline four-cylinder working in the Atkinson cycle. The plug-in hybrid is available with front- and all-wheel drive and has a maximum output of 180 hp (or 183 hp in the case of 4 × 4). The eCVT automatic transmission is new for both electrified drives. The “Old Mile” variant, i.e. a three-cylinder petrol engine with 150 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission, remains in the offer.

The electrified kugas will tow a trailer weighing up to 2,100 kg. This is the best value among (plug-in) hybrid cars. The built-in navigation will find you the ideal route when coupling the trailer (so that you don’t get stuck somewhere with a large trailer), the car system will also check if you have connected it correctly.

You can recognize the rejuvenated SUV quite easily from the outside. It gets a completely new, more modern front end with innovative LED headlights, revised bumpers, mask and hood. The rear of the car is now sleeker, and the lighting technology has also been worked on here. And as part of the facelift, of course, the new design of the light alloy wheels was not to be forgotten either.

In the interior, the 12.3″ digital instrument panel with variable graphics is worth sticking out, as well as the 13.2″ screen of the multimedia system. It offers, for example, a 360-degree camera system or wireless phone mirroring. The air conditioning is now controlled exclusively by touching the screen. A separate panel in the lower part has remained, but we can only find a rotary volume control on it.

The crew in the front can sit in electrically adjustable and heated seats with AGR certification.

In addition to the traditional trims (Titanium, ST-Line and ST-Line X), the Kuga also arrives in a brand new Active X trim. This is packed with equipment, but at the same time gets a more adventurous exterior design with bolder protective plastics and black painted details. An ideal choice for Czech cottagers who have poorer unpaved roads leading to their homes.

Czech prices are no longer a secret either, which you can familiarize yourself with below. Today, the modernized Kuga with a discounted price list starts at 699,900 CZK for the gasoline three-cylinder. The hybrid costs from 801,900 CZK, the four-wheeler is only available in higher equipment for 891,900 CZK. If you want the electrified version in the socket, add another 100,000 CZK.

You can order the new Ford Kuga now, production will start in February, the first cars will be delivered to customers at the beginning of spring this year.
