It has a hybrid, four-wheel drive, super equipment and an excellent chassis. Oh, and it also costs under 900 thousand.

The fog cleared, the spotlights turned, and the curtain parted. The long-awaited novelty – Subaru Crosstrek – has finally officially arrived on the Czech market. The car has been around here for some time, but it is also nominated for the prestigious Car of the Year poll in the Czech Republic, but now we had the opportunity to properly welcome the professional public to the Czech market. We even took a short ride.

You actually already know this car, it is a rejuvenated and updated version of the Subaru XV, which, together with the facelift, appropriated a name known from other markets. The Crosstrek is a raised hatchback based on the Impreza, which in our country has given up the base engine without a hybrid and is only available as a two-liter hybrid, almost all of the technology was developed in-house at Subaru.

The new Subaru Impreza is finally in the Czech Republic. It's not much cheaper than its off-road brother

The car has higher torsional stiffness, is less noisy, and when the designers didn’t know how to push the XV’s capabilities further, they invited a group of doctors to help them develop front seats in which you will move much less in corners and thus feel more natural for you chassis and body. In other words, you will become even more intuitive with the car. That this is unnecessary talk for a 136-horsepower hybrid? So take a ride.

The car on our market costs at least 880,000 CZK, but it will offer you excellent basic equipment, the above-mentioned hybrid and all-wheel drive. Is that a lot? The Škoda Karoq in Ambition basic equipment costs CZK 865,900 if you choose all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission. Its advantage is a two-liter diesel, but forget about such driving characteristics as Subaru.

The car of the year 2024 in the Czech Republic knows the finalists. It will be a battle of premium cars, Korean electric cars and cars for fun

We’ve only driven a few kilometers now, but even in that the car has proven to be something that can proudly stand alongside the best and wait for the winner to be announced with its head held high. It starts with an absolutely brilliant chassis, where the car does not bounce, does not beat and is extremely comfortable. And it continues with steering with a relatively sharp transmission, some feedback and a solid feel. Although the CVT transmission was a bit noisy with the engine, we will make a verdict when we have the car to ourselves and spend some time with it.

The Subaru Crosstrek is a refined XV that customers on the Czech market should not overlook. The ground clearance of 220 mm is great and the off-road handling is second to none. Don’t forget that once you ride it, the fun with the Crosstrek increases as the adhesion and weather conditions worsen. But now there is nothing left but to review the price list and wait for a full-fledged test.
