Forget TikTok, Angry Birds and the selfie camera, this is crap only good for newspaper headlines. However, there are a lot of other technical gadgets on board the new Mercedes E-Class that should interest you. For example, the brand new MBUX infotainment, which you can even have in conjunction with the three-display Superscreen concept (for an additional fee of 43,000) – it is not only clear and intuitive to operate (for example, you can turn off the annoying warning about speeding with a single touch), but also has an ingeniously developed augmented reality for navigation so you never get lost.

It’s a pleasure to spend time in the E-class cabin, you’ll feel like you’re in your own little room. A very hi-tech and luxurious room.

Digital headlights shine through the night and still paint on the road to draw attention to the danger of you or pedestrians, the swiveling rear axle will increase stability on the highway and allow you to wrestle with a large limousine even in narrow underground garages, the Burmester audio with 17 speakers will massage your back nicely with its bass ( literally, it even has speakers in the seat backrests) and thanks to the driver profiles you can customize the car settings.

The hot new thing is the plug-in hybrid drive of the second generation, which enables an electric range of up to 110 km (you can charge the battery with a capacity of 25.4 kWh slowly or quickly, thanks to remote access via a mobile application, you also always have an overview of how long you will have to charge) , while thanks to the internal combustion engine (Mercedes offers a combination with a petrol and diesel engine) you are not limited in any way even on long stretches. In short, there is so much technical magic that it would make one’s head spin…

Gasoline and diesel, four-cylinder and six-cylinder, plus plug-in hybrids with gasoline and diesel engines – the range of E-Class engines is truly exceptional.

And yet the greatest charm of the new E-Class is how much it remains true to its traditional character. You slide into a comfortable chair and enjoy the beautifully crafted (and moodily lit) interior, the leather steering wheel is a joy to hold in your hands, and the lever under the steering wheel whispers to you to move it to the “D” position and hit the road.

The E-Class has classic shapes spiced up with modern elements, including LED lights with sophisticated graphics.

On the high-resolution instrument panel, you can see normal circular alarms, and the sophisticated drive above all excels in deepening the natural soothing character typical of Mercedes – it delivers a completely silent and smooth ride (even when the internal combustion engine kicks in, it does not disturb the comfort on board in any way), add to that comfortable rocking on the air chassis and easy driving with the support of many sophisticated assistants, and you have in front of you the perfect everyday companion for short trips and long stretches.

The new “E” is simply charming – it is modern through and through to keep up with the times, and at the same time its character remains a completely classic Mercedes, in which you get into and your heart rate immediately drops ten beats, traveling in an environment pampered by first-class quality and refined you will really enjoy the comfort and at the end of it you will feel even more rested than at the beginning. It is the best car in its class and deservedly the Car of the Year 2024.
