The segment of small and compact SUVs is promising for Renault – it offers the electric Scénic, but also the traditional Captur, the new Austral or the stylish Arkana. Customers definitely have a lot to choose from. Nevertheless, the French brand has found a niche where it can squeeze in another completely new model called Symbioz.
So far, the automaker is only revealing it, the official premiere will take place in the spring of this year. Symbiosis is said to be a reference to the French word symbiosis and means coexistence. Renault chose it, among other things, because such a designation is closely related in many languages - symbiosis, symbiosis, symbiosis… in short, it will be understood in all corners of Europe.
The French haven’t revealed much yet. We know that the Symbiosis is supposed to be a kind of Capture XL. It will be 4.41 meters long (or roughly 20 centimeters longer than the Captur) and promises a generous interior space and a large trunk (the Captur offers a respectable 422 liters), as well as a host of smart and useful technologies.
The novelty boasts, for example, a panoramic glass roof of the new generation, which, thanks to PDLC technology, does not need a roller blind, but can darken automatically. Not even (at least one) available engine is a secret anymore. Full-hybrid E-Tech technology with a power of 145 hp will work under the hood of the compact SUV. The vehicle’s curb weight of less than 1.5 tons should also help to save traffic.
The question remains whether Renault will present the new model at the Geneva Motor Show (it starts on February 26 and the French brand is one of the few exhibitors) or sometime later during the first half of the year. We prefer the first option, because sales will officially start in June and the first customers will receive their cars already in September.
