Lately, we are all used to the fact that if a manufacturer announces the arrival of a fungl new model, it is usually an electric car with an attractive range, attractive equipment and a crazy price.
Honor to the exceptions of the MG type, which will bring direct competition to the Škoda Fabia to the Czech Republic, namely the MG3 with an internal combustion engine. Although Dongfeng has announced the arrival of two electric cars for this year, namely the cheap (up to half a million) Nammi and the expensive thousand-icon M-Hero 917, there is also one large MPV in the game that is not fully electric.
It is a 5.2-meter-long Dongfeng Forthing U-Tour V9 model with pure front-wheel drive, i.e. a larger sibling of the currently sold U-Tour model. However, do not be misled by the number 9, it does not indicate the number of seats, which are 7 (2+2+3), but they are full-sized and luxurious. In addition, the first two rows have heating, ventilation and massage, the third has heating.
In addition, the vehicle promises a sophisticated system for folding the third row into the floor, integrated drink holders in the seats, lateral displacement of the second row of seats and a large trunk even in a seven-seater configuration.
From the comfort equipment, look forward to air conditioning for all series with an effective dirt filter, keyless entry and start, remote control of all windows including the roof, wireless mobile phone charger, LED diode lights, fog lights, several touch screens, wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto or adaptive cruise control.
The model arrives on 18-inch wheels, offers independent suspension, an electric parking brake, and direct tire pressure monitoring. There will also be an assistant package including automatic parking or a panoramic parking system.
So far only a hybrid
The model offers two motorizations for export markets, namely hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV). So both variants include a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with an electric motor. The hybrid version has a battery with a capacity of 2 kWh, while the plug-in hybrid has a traction battery capacity of 20.1 kWh, which should be enough for around 80 km of purely electric range.
The plug-in is equipped exclusively with an AC connector, and it should take about 6.5 hours to fully charge. In addition, the vehicle will also be able to supply energy to other devices with a power of up to 3.3 kW. The volume of the fuel tank is the same for both models and reaches 60 liters.
The family car should arrive on the Czech market around May of this year, with the expected basic selling price of CZK 1,200,000 including VAT for the hybrid. The fate of the plug-in hybrid in the Czech Republic is not entirely certain, it has not yet been decided whether it will be sold here.
The Dongfeng Forthing U-Tour V9 will revive the MPV segment, which was de facto dead except for purely electric models. So we are extremely curious how many people will be tempted by luxury and a different approach to cars from a Chinese brand that is slowly gaining strength on the Czech market. We’ll be watching!
