We don’t see the date February 29 in the calendars every year, but this day combined with this year 2024 means only one thing for motorists – a substantial change in the prices of electronic highway signs.

In particular, the annual vignette, which for more than a decade cost a nice 1,500 CZK, will increase in price to 2,300 CZK starting tomorrow! So an increase of eight hundred. On the other hand, they will discount the monthly by CZK 10 to CZK 430, and thus also the ten-day one by CZK 40 to the amount of CZK 270.

A one-day motorway stamp is being introduced, which is not valid for 24 hours, but ends at midnight on the day of purchase/activation. In addition, it is not so advantageous, because it costs 200 CZK, which is a calculation price model introduced by the EU.

It still applies that the approximately 50% discount on the prices of all brands will continue to apply to cars powered by biomethane or natural gas (CNG, LNG) even in combination with other fuel. This does not apply to LPG cars!

LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cars do not have a discount and will not continue to have one.

Be careful now, since March 1, plug-in hybrids with CO emissions must also pay for highways2 up to 50 g per km, which until now drove on Czech highways for free. The good news for PHEV drivers, however, is that they will be paying practically a quarter of the standard price list. Specifically, an annual ticket costs CZK 570, a monthly ticket costs CZK 100, a ten-day ticket costs CZK 60 and a one-day ticket costs CZK 50.

Free Czech highways will continue to have motorbikes, historic vehicles with vintage markings, cars transporting disabled people, trailers and electric cars, as well as hydrogen cars – with the EL marking automatically, without it after submitting an application for exemption.

Price list of highway stamps valid from March 1, 2024. In the upper left corner, then, the current prices are shown.

We remind you that you can buy a stamp today and postpone its validity for up to 30 days. It doesn’t matter if you have a different highway sign active on one vehicle, because the electronic vignettes can overlap.

We recommend buying highway stamps online on the official portal edalnice.cz, where, by the way, you can also find a signpost (HERE) for other Central European countries. In other words, not only in our country, but also abroad, there have been a lot of dealers who exaggerate their prices.

If you are traveling without internet access or live so-called offline, use the official kiosks located in selected locations (list HERE) or go to Czech Post branches or EuroOil pumps. Again, you don’t have to wait in lines at various dealers and pay unnecessarily more, because the places listed above are the official ones. Good luck everyone!
